Yellow, orange and red arranged as blocks rather than brushwork. Every other print in this range is painted; this one is built. Blocks of colour meeting at defined edges behave differently on a garment: the design reads as graphic and deliberate where a wash reads as atmospheric.

Blocks Do Something Brushwork Cannot

• They read at any distance. Large areas of flat colour hold their shape across a street, where fine brushwork dissolves into a single tone.
• They give the garment structure. Defined edges create a composition that sits with the body rather than washing over it.
• The edges stay clean. Colour dyed into the fibre keeps a hard boundary sharp; a surface print softens and eventually breaks along exactly those lines.

No Seam Interrupts The Image

The cloth is precision-cut and hand-sewn after printing, and on a block design that matters more than on any other kind: a colour block cut through by a seam that does not line up is immediately obvious, where a brushstroke is forgiving. Printing first is what keeps the blocks whole. 95% polyester with 5% elastane, composition varying by up to 1%, at 6.19 oz per square yard, weight varying by up to 5%.

Warm Blocks In Warm Weather

Cool wash, line dry, and the stretch stays. The one thing to avoid is the tumble dryer, because heat degrades elastane and slack armholes are how a tank stops being worn.

Three Warm Colours Is Already Enough

Yellow, orange and red between them cover the entire warm range, so the rest of the outfit has to stay out of it. White, black, charcoal and indigo. Any warm tone below turns the whole thing into one undifferentiated block of heat.

Edges, Seams And Sizing

Are the block edges hard or soft? Hard, which is the point of this design. They are printed as clean boundaries rather than blended, in contrast to the painted prints elsewhere in the range.

Will the blocks line up at the side seams? Closely, not perfectly. Each panel is cut individually from printed cloth, so a block meets across a seam rather than registering to the millimetre.

Do I need to size up for a looser look? No. The relaxed cut already gives room, and going larger widens the armhole instead of adding it where you want it.
