This is the one in the range built to be washed constantly, which sounds like a small thing until you count how a tank actually gets used: it is worn in heat, it is worn next to the skin, and it goes in the machine after every single wearing rather than every third.

Made For The Wash Cycle It Will Actually Get

• The colour cannot come out. Sublimated dye is bonded inside the polyester, so repeated hot washing has nothing to strip. A surface print is on borrowed time under the same treatment.
• The shape comes back. The elastane recovers on the cross and lengthwise grains, so the garment returns to its measurements instead of growing a size over a summer.
• Polyester dries in hours, not overnight. A tank you can wash in the evening and wear the next morning is a different garment from one you cannot.

What Is In It

95% polyester with 5% elastane, composition varying by up to 1%, at 6.19 oz per square yard, weight varying by up to 5%. Precision-cut and hand-sewn after printing, which is why the design carries over the shoulder and into the armhole curve rather than sitting in a panel.

Hot Washing Has One Limit

The print survives heat; the elastane does not love it. Warm washing is fine and a hot tumble dryer is not, because heat is what breaks down the stretch fibre and lets the armholes go slack. Wash as often as you like, then air dry.

Primary Colours Want Neutral Company

Blue and red together are direct and unsubtle, and that is the appeal. White, black, stone and grey below. Denim is the one to think twice about, because the blue in the print and the blue in the jeans will not be the same blue.

Washing, Drying And Fit

Can it go in a hot wash? The print can take it. The elastane prefers warm, and the real thing to avoid is the tumble dryer rather than the wash temperature.

How quickly does it dry? A few hours on a line indoors. Polyester holds very little water compared with cotton, which is the practical reason to choose it for a garment in heavy rotation.

Does frequent washing fade it? No. There is no pigment layer on the surface to remove, so the colour after fifty washes is the colour it arrived with.
