Drop arm is the phrase to understand before ordering, because it describes an armhole cut lower and wider than a standard vest, and that single detail decides how much of your side the tank shows and whether it works over a t-shirt or only on its own.

What A Drop Arm Changes

• More shoulder movement. A lower armhole lets the arm rotate without the whole garment lifting, which is why the cut is used on training vests.
• More side body visible. The opening sits further down the ribs than a standard armhole, so it shows more than a conventional tank does. Worth knowing rather than discovering.
• It layers loosely, not neatly. Over a t-shirt the wide opening reveals the sleeve underneath, so this works as an open casual layer rather than a tidy one.

The Fabric Is Not The Same In Every Colour

Red, white, coral, squash, pacific blue and mint are 100% combed ring-spun cotton. Athletic Heather is 85% cotton with 15% viscose, which drapes softer and lighter to the touch. Charcoal Heather is 60% polyester with 40% cotton, which is the most hard-wearing of the three and the least breathable. Choosing a colour is also choosing a cloth.

Midweight At 5.5 Ounces

5.5 oz per square yard, 186 gsm, soft-washed and tight-knit. Soft-washed means the fabric has been finished to feel broken in from the first wearing rather than needing a month to get there, and a tight knit is what stops a cotton tank going shapeless at the armhole.

Cotton In Heat

A cotton tank is the comfortable choice standing still in warm weather and the wrong one for exertion. Cotton absorbs sweat and holds it, so it goes heavy and stays damp where a synthetic would move the moisture out.

Before You Order

How low is the armhole? Lower and wider than a standard vest, which is what the drop arm cut means. It shows more of the side body than a conventional tank.

Do all the colours feel the same? No. Athletic Heather has viscose in it and drapes softer; Charcoal Heather is mostly polyester and is more durable but less breathable. The rest are pure cotton.

Can it be worn to the gym? It can, but cotton holds sweat rather than moving it, so a synthetic performance fabric does that job better.
