Faux pearls scattered across medium wash denim, a frayed raw hem and five pockets: the Amelie shorts are denim shorts with a little jewelry built in. They are dressy enough for a summer dinner and still easy enough for a weekend market, and the pearls do the accessorizing for you.

  • Pearls built in. The studs are fixed to the denim, so the shorts dress up a plain tee on their own.
  • Frayed raw hem. The unfinished edge softens a little more each wash, for a lived-in look.
  • Five pockets. Classic jean pockets front and back, with room for a phone in front.

Pearl Denim Shorts for Summer Nights

Pearl studs change what denim shorts can do. A white silk-look camisole and strappy sandals turn these into a dinner outfit, while a fitted tank and sneakers keep them casual. Because the pearls already add shine, keep jewelry simple: small hoops or studs, and no busy necklace competing with them.

Raw Hem Care

A raw hem is cut and left unstitched, so the threads loosen and fray a little with each wash. That is the charm, and you can control it. Trim stray long threads with scissors after washing, and the fray stays neat. If you want it to stop moving, a line of stitching just above the fringe locks it in place.

Washing Denim With Pearls

Turn the shorts inside out, wash them cold on a gentle cycle or by hand, and air dry. Tumbling in a hot dryer is the hardest thing on decorative studs and on the faux pearl finish. Two thirds cotton with a third polyester and a touch of elastane, the denim keeps its shape well between washes, so wear them a few times before washing.

It is cut in women's numeric sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16, even sizes only. The waistband is fixed with no elastic, so choose by the waist and expect a slight easing after a few wears.

The Pearl Studded Shorts Up Close

Are pearl denim shorts too dressy for daytime? No. With a plain white tee and flat sandals they look casual, and the pearls simply make the outfit feel considered.

Do the pearls catch on things? Studs sit flat to the fabric, but a crocheted bag or a loose-knit sweater can snag. A smooth bag is the safer pairing.

What tops go best with pearl shorts? Solids in white, black, pale pink or soft blue. A narrow, classic striped tee works as well.
