Product Type: Hats & Caps

This pom pom beanie by Aria the Fox comes in slate blue with a snowy white pattern of spruce trees, finished with a deep cuff and a fluffy white pom on top. The label names the design Siberian Spruce and says it darkened the blue on purpose, so the hat goes with more colors. Inside, the label adds a fleece lining to keep your head warm on cold walks.

  • Fleece inside. The lining puts a soft layer against the skin and blocks wind that passes through plain knit.
  • Snowy tree pattern. White speckles form the trees, so from a distance the hat reads as a winter scene.
  • Cuff over the ears. The deep folded cuff doubles the knit where the ears need it most.

Pom Pom Beanie Styling

A pom pom beanie adds height and some fun to a winter outfit, and a white pom on slate blue keeps it crisp rather than cute. Pull the hat straight down so the pom sits centered on top, and it adds a couple of inches of height to your silhouette. Push it back slightly and the pom tilts, which gives a more relaxed look for weekends.

What a Fleece Lining Changes

Knit fabric is full of small gaps, and wind passes through them. A fleece lining closes those gaps and traps a layer of warm air next to the head, which is why a lined beanie feels much warmer than its thickness suggests. Aria the Fox says it lined the hat for cold northern snowstorms; in practice that means a dog walk at dawn, a hockey game outdoors or a long wait at a bus stop.

Slate Blue with Winter Colors

Slate blue is a cool, muted shade that pairs well with gray, navy, cream and black. A cream sweater, as in the photos, brings out the white trees and the pom. Because the pattern is two colors only, it works with a patterned scarf as long as the scarf repeats blue or white.

Siberian Spruce Beanie on Cold Walks

Will the pom pom get flat? A pom compresses if the hat is crushed in a bag or worn under a hood. Fluff it with your fingers after wearing and store the hat with the pom on top, not squashed in a drawer.

Is a fleece lined beanie too warm for mild days? On a mild fall day it can feel warm, since the lining holds heat. It is at its best below freezing or in wind; on milder days, wear the cuff unrolled higher so the ears breathe.

What stops a lined hat from slipping? Fleece grips hair less than knit does, so set the cuff low over the ears and pull the hat down firmly at the back. A low ponytail under the hat also anchors it.
