Product Type: Pet Harnesses & Leashes

Classic Rainbow puts every color on one length of rope, blended by hand so the bands run into each other instead of stopping at hard lines. Leash and collar match, both 100 percent cotton, both finished in solid brass.

Every Color On One Rope

The rainbow is dyed rather than printed, which matters because dye goes through the fiber while print sits on top of it. Print abrades off a rope at the points that drag on pavement. Dyed cotton keeps its color down to the core, so a scuff shows as wear rather than as a bald patch.

What Hand Dyeing Does To A Rainbow

Because each length passes through the dye by hand, the width of each color band shifts a little from one rope to the next. No two of these are identical, and the one you receive will not match the photograph band for band. That is worth knowing before you order rather than after.

The Hardware Carries The Load

A leash fails at its fittings long before it fails in the middle. This one uses a solid brass trigger snap with no plating to wear off the pivot, and the rope end is spliced and whipped so the strands lock into one another rather than depending on a crimped collar. A second brass ring at the handle holds waste bags or keys.

Neck Measurements Before You Choose

The maker's own warning is worth repeating: these collars run small. Measure the neck with a soft tape, allow two fingers of room, and choose from the measured figure rather than from the size your dog usually wears.

Collar neck fit for the Classic Rainbow cotton rope collar
Size Neck fits
Small 15 to 18 inches
Medium 17 to 21 inches
Large 20 to 24 inches

The leash is a single length, finished at 5 to 6 feet.

Who Should Skip This One

A dog that mouths its leash on the move will fray cotton faster than nylon. Cotton also soaks up water and takes hours to dry, so this is not the set for a dog that swims on most walks. Necks under 15 inches sit below the smallest collar here.

Washing Without Dulling The Color

Hand wash in mild soap and cool water and line dry, out of direct sun where you can. Machine washing is what flattens a hand dyed rope. Brass cleans with mild soap and water, or with a lemon juice and baking soda paste.

Rainbow Set Questions

Can I clip this leash to a harness instead of the collar? Yes. The brass trigger snap fits any standard harness D ring.

How do I stop a cotton collar smelling after a wet walk? Rinse it and let it dry all the way through before it goes back on. Cotton holds water, and damp storage is what causes the smell.

Does the collar have a metal buckle? Yes, the collar closes on brass hardware to match the leash.
