A cat harness only works if it adjusts at both the neck and the chest, because a cat's proportions are nothing like a dog's. This one does, in a green floral vest cut rather than a strap.
Adjustable At Both Points
Fixed harnesses assume a ratio between neck and chest that individual cats simply do not share. Two adjustment points let you set each independently, which is the only way to get a fit snug enough to hold and loose enough to be worn.
A Vest, Not A Strap
Thin strap harnesses concentrate all the pull onto two narrow lines. A vest spreads the load across the chest and shoulders, which a cat notices immediately: broader contact feels less like being caught and more like being dressed.
Three Sizes For Most Cats
The range runs small, medium and large. Measure the neck and the chest behind the front legs before choosing, and set both straps on the cat rather than guessing from the label. Two fingers should slide under any strap when it is done up.
Fit Is Everything On A Cat
Cats reverse out of harnesses that dogs would never escape, because a cat can compress its shoulders in a way a dog cannot. The margin between too tight and escapable is narrower than on any dog harness, which is why the adjustment points matter more than the material.
Test It Indoors First
Fit the harness and let the cat wear it inside for a few short sessions before any outdoor use. That does two things: it tells you whether the cat can back out of your setting, and it lets the cat learn the sensation somewhere it already feels safe. No harness is escape proof on a frightened cat.
Green Floral Harness Questions
Where are the adjustment points? At the neck and around the chest, set separately.
How tight should it be? Snug enough that two fingers slide under the strap and no more. Looser than that and a cat can reverse out.
Can a leash clip straight to it? Yes, the harness carries its own attachment point on the back.
