Patterned harnesses are usually built by stitching a printed fabric strip onto a plain strap. This one is printed directly into 100 percent polyester webbing, so there is no second layer with edges to lift and no seam running the length of the strap.

How The Print Survives A Season

Print on webbing wears at the contact points first, which on a step in are the buckle and the underside where the strap crosses the chest. Because the pattern is in the strap rather than on a laminate, that wear shows as softening rather than as flaking.

The fittings are eco friendly plastic and the leash ring is chromed steel. That split is deliberate: plastic keeps a small dog's harness light, and steel goes on the one part that has to hold when a dog hits the end of the leash.

Size is set by chest girth, not by weight or breed. Run a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, and read it with the dog standing.

XL is offered as well. The maker's chart stops at large, so there is no published chest range for that size.

When To Choose A Different Harness

There is no neck strap here, so a dog that backs out of its gear is better served by a two point design. There is no front clip either, which is the fitting that turns a dog rather than letting it lean.

Does a printed harness weigh more than a plain one? No. The print adds no layer, so it weighs what the plain webbing weighs.
