Product Type: Door Mats

A dolphin across the wide twenty-four by thirty-six inch mat, moving through blue water. Motion painted at a scale that carries.

Blue Artwork Outdoors

  • Blues are stable dyes. Cool tones hold their depth better than warm ones under light, which is an advantage for a mat that lives near a door.
  • Movement needs width. A subject in motion looks stalled on a narrow mat. Three feet gives the composition somewhere to travel.
  • Stamped rubber underneath. Texture across the base is what stops a large mat creeping toward the door over weeks.

Pool, Deck Or Sunroom

This is a mat for the door that leads to water, whether that is a pool gate, a deck or a boathouse.

It handles wet feet the way felt always does, by holding the water rather than passing it on.

Cleaning Takes Two Minutes

  • Do hose it, or use a power washer
  • Do sweep it with a broom for dry dirt
  • Do vacuum on the floor setting
  • Do spot clean with a mild cleaner
  • Skip anything that foams heavily, since the residue holds new dirt
  • Skip the stiff brush, which lifts the nap
  • Skip the carpet setting on the vacuum, built to pull pile up
  • Skip bleach entirely

The Parts That Matter

A dyed polyester felt face, stability layers below, and a stamped rubber underside, with binding tape sewn round the perimeter.

The binding is the part people overlook. On three feet of felt it is what keeps the long edges from opening up.

Chlorine And Sun

Pool water is harder on dyed felt than rain is. Chlorine left in the fibers as they dry works on the color over time.

A fresh water rinse after heavy use, plus a shaded position, is what keeps the blue reading as water.

Worth knowing: dry it before the first frost of the season. A mat that goes into winter damp will hold that moisture until spring and the backing suffers.

Questions About The Dolphin Mat

Can it sit right at a pool edge?
It can, though constant splashing plus sun is the hardest combination. A rinse and a shaded spot both extend its life.

Does the blue fade to green?
Dyed felt loses saturation instead of shifting hue, so age reads as paler blue rather than as a different blue.

Is it safe on wet tile?
The stamped rubber grips wet hard surfaces well. It holds better than a woven mat with a smooth backing does.

How long before it looks worn?
Under cover, years. In full sun and constant wet, the picture will soften noticeably within a couple of seasons.
