Product Type: Door Mats

A gorilla on an eighteen by twenty-seven inch mat, dark and close up. One of the boldest images in this size.

Dark Artwork Has A Practical Edge

  • It does not show grit. A dark ground disguises the dry dirt every entrance mat collects between washes.
  • Contrast holds at a distance. Heavy tonal range means the image still reads from across a hall rather than turning muddy.
  • Dyed rather than printed. The pigment is in the fiber, which is why walking on it does not erase it.

Placing A Strong Image

Bold artwork wants space around it. Against a plain door and a plain floor it works; crowded by pattern it fights for attention.

Eighteen by twenty-seven is the single door size, at roughly a quarter inch thick.

Cleaning Takes Two Minutes

Dark felt hides dirt, which makes it easy to wash it less often than you should. Set a rhythm rather than waiting for it to look dirty.

  • Do hose it, or use a power washer
  • Do sweep it with a broom for dry dirt
  • Do vacuum on the floor setting
  • Do spot clean with a mild cleaner
  • Skip anything that foams heavily, since the residue holds new dirt
  • Skip the stiff brush, which lifts the nap
  • Skip the carpet setting on the vacuum, built to pull pile up
  • Skip bleach entirely

Where To Put It

Shelter matters more for dark dyes than for pale ones, because fading shows as a flat tone rather than as a soft wash. Under cover it stays black.

Worth knowing: wash it in the morning. Felt this dense needs most of a day to dry, and laying a damp mat back down traps moisture underneath.

Questions About The Gorilla Mat

Does a dark mat get hot in the sun?
It absorbs more heat than a pale one, which matters if bare feet cross it on a summer afternoon. In shade it stays comfortable.

Will fading be obvious on black artwork?
Fading on dark dye shows as a loss of depth rather than a color shift. Keeping it out of constant direct sun avoids it.

Is the image on the whole mat or a panel?
The artwork is dyed across the full felt surface, edge to edge inside the binding tape.

Can I use a carpet cleaner on it?
No. Carpet cleaners foam heavily and the residue stays in the felt. Pressure from a hose, plus a mild cleaner on individual marks, is what works.
