Product Type: Door Mats

A cheetah portrait, head and shoulders, resting in green foliage across the wide twenty-four by thirty-six inch mat. Eye contact at the door.

A Portrait Wants The Space

  • Faces need scale. A head and shoulders composition on a small mat becomes a smudge. Three feet lets the eyes carry.
  • Green ground, warm subject. The foliage behind is what makes the cat come forward, and both are dyed through the same felt.
  • It stops what it needs to. Wider felt means more of the doorway is doing work rather than decoration.

Choosing The Position

Portraits read best when you approach them straight on. A path that arrives square to the door suits this better than one that arrives at an angle.

The wide format fits double doors and broad steps without overhanging awkwardly.

Cleaning Takes Two Minutes

  • Do hose it, or use a power washer
  • Do sweep it with a broom for dry dirt
  • Do vacuum on the floor setting
  • Do spot clean with a mild cleaner
  • Skip anything that foams heavily, since the residue holds new dirt
  • Skip the stiff brush, which lifts the nap
  • Skip the carpet setting on the vacuum, built to pull pile up
  • Skip bleach entirely

Layer By Layer

Polyester felt carries the image, layers beneath give it body, and a stamped rubber sheet closes the underside. Binding tape frames all four edges.

Nothing here is glued on. The picture is part of the felt, which is the reason it tolerates being stood on daily.

Keeping The Face Sharp

Detail concentrated in one area fades before broad color does, so the eyes and muzzle are what to protect.

Shade is the whole answer. Under an overhang the portrait stays as printed for years.

Worth knowing: let a new mat lie flat for a day before you judge it. Shipping creases in felt relax on their own and pressing them makes it worse.

Questions About This Cheetah Mat

Which way round should it face?
With the head toward whoever is arriving. The composition was painted to be read from the approach rather than from the doorway.

Does green show dirt more than brown?
Slightly, because mud reads warm against a cool ground. It rinses out as easily either way.

Is it thick enough to feel underfoot?
At about a quarter of an inch it registers as a mat rather than as a rug. That is deliberate, since more thickness fouls door swings.

Can I trim it to fit?
No. Cutting removes the sewn binding tape and the felt will begin to fray from the cut edge almost immediately.
