Product Type: Decorative Pillows

Two starfish on wet sand, a headland behind them, painted in watercolor across an eighteen inch square pillow. It arrives filled, not as an empty cover.

What You Actually Get

  • The insert is already in it. Nothing else to buy and no guessing at sizes to make a cover sit properly.
  • Three piece sham, not one panel. The fill reaches into the corners instead of leaving them slack.
  • Color fast dyes. The blues and the pale sand hold their contrast through a summer rather than washing out.

Water Resistant Or Waterproof

These are different things and the difference decides where you leave it. Water resistant means the fabric sheds a shower, a spilled drink, or overnight damp, and dries without holding a smell.

It does not mean submersible. A covered porch through a wet week is fine. A genuine downpour asks the fill to take on water it cannot easily give back.

Which Size Suits You

At eighteen inches square this is the larger of the two pillow formats. It has the presence to anchor the corner of an outdoor sofa and enough body to work as back support.

On a narrow chair or a compact bistro seat it will dominate. A pillow should lean into the frame without pushing you forward, so check the seat depth.

Keeping It Looking New

  • Do spot clean with a mild cleaner and a damp cloth
  • Do work from the outside of a mark inward
  • Do air dry it
  • Do shake it by hand every few weeks to restore the loft
  • Skip the washing machine; the sham and insert are one piece
  • Skip direct heat, which sets stains and stiffens fabric
  • Skip leaving it out in heavy rain

Worth knowing: bring it indoors for winter rather than into a shed. Unheated storage cycles between damp and cold, and that cycle flattens polyester fill faster than a whole season of use.

Questions About The Starfish Pillow

Does it come with the insert or is it a cover only?
The insert is included and already inside the sham. Nothing else needs buying.

Can I remove the cover to wash it?
The sham and insert are made as one piece rather than as a removable cover, so clean it by spot cleaning rather than by unzipping and laundering.

Is the picture printed on both sides?
The gallery images show the front and the construction, so it is worth looking rather than assuming. The artwork is the reason to buy it.

How does it hold up to salt air?
Water resistant polyester with color fast dyes handles coastal humidity well. Rinse it with fresh water occasionally if it lives near the sea, since salt left in any fabric eventually stiffens the fibers.
