Product Type: T-shirt Dress

A dancing silhouette on a yellow ground. Yellow is the hardest colour to wear as a whole garment and the easiest to notice, and a dress is the largest amount of it you can put on at once. That is either exactly the point or exactly the problem, and it is worth deciding which before ordering.

A Full Yellow Garment Is A Decision

  • It is seen before you are. Yellow carries further than any other colour, so the dress arrives in a room a moment ahead of the person wearing it.
  • The black silhouette gives it structure. Without a dark element a yellow dress is an undifferentiated block; the figure gives the eye somewhere to rest.
  • The colour cannot go dull. Yellow is the shade that fades first on a surface print. Dyed into the fibre it stays at the strength it arrived with.

Silhouette Needs A Clean Edge

A figure with no interior detail depends entirely on its outline, so the print method has to hold a hard boundary between black and yellow. Sublimation keeps that edge sharp where a surface print softens where two colours meet.

The Practical Cost

A pale garment shows everything. This is the dress in the range that needs washing after each wearing rather than after two, and a mark wants dealing with the same day rather than the following week.

Nothing Else Bright

Black leggings, black shoes, and let the dress do all of it. The silhouette on the front already pairs black with the yellow, so repeating black below finishes the idea rather than adding to it.

Before You Choose

Is the yellow bright or soft? Bright. It is a clear strong yellow rather than a mustard, which is what gives the black figure enough contrast to read from a distance.

Is the silhouette on the back too? The figure sits on the front and the yellow carries around the rest of the garment.

Does the cut run large? It is cut oversized with a drop shoulder, so take your usual size. Sizing up adds length as well as width.

Every Dress Is Cut Alone

These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Take your chest at its fullest with arms down, your waist at its narrowest and your hips at their fullest, keeping the tape level. Each dress is cut and sewn after it is ordered, so a finished one can measure up to an inch away from the chart.

Yellow shows a poor fit sooner than a dark color does, which makes this the one worth measuring for rather than guessing at. The cut absorbs six inches or so over the chest row, so the honest reading is the right one and rounding up only adds volume to a garment that already has it. Check the hips row too, since nothing at the waist adjusts on a straight dress.
