Product Type: T-shirt Dress

Blue and green abstract with orange breaking through it. The practical case for this dress is that it does not crease, and on a dress that matters more than on almost anything else you own: a dress is one large uninterrupted surface, so a crease has nowhere to hide and no seam to disguise it.

Why A Polyester Knit Wins Here

  • The fibre springs back. Polyester recovers its shape from folding in a way cotton and linen do not, which is why a packed dress comes out wearable rather than needing an iron.
  • A knit resists creasing more than a woven. Loops of yarn move against each other and release a fold; woven threads lock a crease in place.
  • 4% spandex adds recovery, not cling. It is enough to bring the fabric back to shape after a day of sitting and not enough to make the dress follow the body.

What That Means In Practice

This is the dress to pack. It can be folded into a case, worn out of it and not look folded, which is the specific reason a synthetic knit is chosen over a natural fibre for travel rather than a compromise on comfort. 96% polyester with 4% spandex at 6.19 oz per square yard.

The Print Suits The Purpose

A busy abstract hides the marks of a day out in a way a plain colour cannot. Blue and green with orange running through it gives the eye enough to look at that a small crease or a stray mark is simply not noticed.

The Cost Of Synthetic

Polyester holds warmth more than cotton does, so in genuine heat this is a less breathable dress than a natural fibre would be. It is a travel and three-season garment rather than a high-summer one, and that is the trade for everything above.

Before You Order

Does it really not need ironing? A knit polyester releases folds on its own as it hangs and as body heat reaches it. Deep creases from long compression will take a little hanging time rather than an iron.

Is it hot to wear? Warmer than cotton in real heat. It suits spring, autumn and air-conditioned travel better than a still summer day.

What size should I take? Your usual one. The relaxed line is in the cut, with a drop shoulder and a lowered armhole, so sizing up adds length rather than comfort.

Measurements for a Packed Dress

These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Take your chest at its fullest with arms down, your waist at its narrowest and your hips at their fullest, keeping the tape level. Each dress is cut and sewn after it is ordered, so a finished one can measure up to an inch away from the chart.

If this is the dress going into the case, the hem sits 34¼ inches down at 2XS and 41 inches down at 6XL. Going up a size buys width rather than hem, and the width is generous already: the garment runs about six inches beyond the chest figure printed beside it.
