Island is the landscape print in the Tropical range rather than the bird one. The construction underneath is a stretch outer, a cotton gusset, and no elastic band at either edge.

How a Full Panel Print Sits

  • The print carries around the hip. Sublimation dyes the whole panel instead of placing a graphic on one face, so the pattern does not stop dead at a side seam.
  • The gusset is 95% cotton, the outer 83% polyester with 17% elastane. The cotton handles the skin contact and the elastane handles the recovery.
  • No elastic band at the leg or the waist. Both edges are finished flat, which is what keeps the outline invisible under close-fitting clothing.
  • Four-way stretch in the outer. The knit gives across the body as well as along it, which is what stops a full-panel print pulling long in one direction.

How Each Cut Carries the Print

Because the dye reaches the whole panel rather than one printed face, the pattern wraps the hip instead of stopping at a side seam. On a slip that means the artwork covers the full rear panel and reads as a complete print. On a thong there is far less surface for it to occupy, so it registers mainly at the front and across the waist, which is worth knowing if the artwork is the reason you are buying.

Where a Dense Print Belongs

A landscape print covers nearly the whole panel, so beneath thin cream or white it registers as tone rather than as leaves, and switching cut will not change that. Against mid tones, dark colors and any woven texture it vanishes, which covers most of a normal week. Past that it stops being about what anyone else sees and becomes a question of what you like opening a drawer to.
