Gala comes from the Baroque range and it is cut as a high waisted brief, which behaves differently from a slip in one specific way: the waist sits above the navel, exactly where clothing presses hardest when you sit.

What a High Waist Changes

  • Three sizes, Small to Large. X-Large is not part of this run, which is worth knowing before you order.
  • A waist finished flat rather than on a band, so a high rise holds its position without pressing a ridge across the stomach.
  • A 95% cotton gusset under a polyester and elastane outer, the same as on the slip and thong cuts.
  • More coverage at both ends than a slip, at the waist and at the leg, which is what makes a brief the easier choice under thin or clinging fabric.

How a Brief Handles Layers

A high waist meets more clothing than a low rise does, because it sits exactly where waistbands, tucked shirts and fitted skirts all land. That means it is pressed against the skin by whatever is over it for most of the day, and a gathered elastic edge under that pressure is what leaves a mark. A flat finish spreads the load across the panel instead.

Where a Brief Beats a Slip

A brief is not a specialist garment and does not need an occasion. If you already wear a slip and simply want the waistband somewhere you cannot feel it, this is the same thing moved up. It works under wide leg pants, a midi skirt, a tucked shirt, and on a long day standing where a hip-level band would slide. What it will not do is solve a sizing problem, since this design stops at Large.
