Product Type: Decorative Pillows

A pigeon rendered in close detail on a fourteen inch square pillow. An unfashionable bird given serious painterly attention, which is most of its charm.

An Unexpected Subject

  • Detail rewards a close look. Pigeon plumage carries more iridescence than people expect, and the painting goes after it rather than settling for gray.
  • The compact format suits it. Fourteen inches is a reading chair pillow, seen from close range, which is where this subject pays off.
  • No assembly on arrival. Fill and cover leave the factory as one item, so there is nothing to source or match.

Where Fourteen Inches Works

This size is lumbar support on an armchair, a corner accent on a bench, or the pillow that sits in front of larger ones.

On a deep sofa it disappears. On a narrow seat or a window nook it is exactly right.

Looking After It

  • Do treat marks in place with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Do work from the outside of a mark inward
  • Do air dry it
  • Do shake it by hand every few weeks to restore the loft
  • Skip the washing machine; the sham and insert are one piece
  • Skip direct heat, which sets stains and stiffens fabric
  • Skip leaving it out in heavy rain

Built To Sit Outside

The fabric is water resistant polyester with dyes chosen to hold color, so a covered porch suits it as well as a living room does.

Morning finds it dry again with nothing lingering in the fibers.

Worth knowing: blot a spill, never rub it. Rubbing pushes liquid sideways through the weave and turns a small mark into a large ring.

Questions About The Pigeon Pillow

Is the insert removable?
No. It is built as one unit with no zip, so treat marks in place rather than trying to separate the parts.

Does the artwork show on one side only?
Look through the gallery images, which show the pillow from several angles. Judge it from the photographs before you decide, since the picture is the whole purchase.

Will it hold its shape on a chair?
Polyester fill compresses where it takes weight and recovers when shaken out. A minute of hand shaking every few weeks keeps it full.

Can it stay out through a rainy week?
Under cover, yes. Water resistant fabric copes with damp air and light spray; it is not made to sit in standing water.

Where is it made?
Both parts are produced domestically, and the paintings come from in-house artists rather than being licensed from elsewhere.
