Product Type: Jewelry Boxes

Jewelry travels badly in a pouch: chains knot, earrings separate, and rings end up at the bottom of a makeup bag. Eufaula is TORONATA's leather travel jewelry box with a velvet lining, made in two sizes, Medium and Large, and in Brown or Navy.

  • Separate sections. TORONATA lists sections for bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings.
  • Velvet lining. A soft surface against metal and stones, so pieces do not scratch each other or the box.
  • Two sizes. Medium is 4.33 inches square and Large 6.1 inches square, both 2.56 inches tall.
  • A leather shell. Firm sides that keep their shape inside a packed bag.

A Travel Jewelry Box in Leather

A travel jewelry box earns its space by keeping each piece apart from the others. A hard shell stops a suitcase from pressing on a pair of earrings, and separate sections stop a chain from wrapping itself around a ring. You pack it once at home and open it at the hotel to find everything where you left it, which is the whole point. At home it works the other way round, as the box on the dresser for the pieces you wear every day.

Medium or Large, by the Trip

Medium, at 4.33 by 4.33 by 2.56 inches, is a weekend box: rings, three or four pairs of earrings, one or two fine chains. It fits in a handbag or a coat pocket. Large, at 6.1 inches square and the same height, is for a week or for bulkier pieces, a watch coiled on its strap, bangles, a statement necklace. If you are choosing one, choose for your longest regular trip, since a half empty box still protects what is in it.

Packing Necklaces, Rings and Earrings

Fasten every clasp before a necklace goes in, and lay each chain in its own section. For a very fine chain, thread it through a drinking straw and close the clasp, which makes a knot impossible. Keep earrings in pairs, backs on. Put rings with stones in last and facing up, so nothing rests on the setting. The box goes in your carry-on, never in a checked bag: checked luggage gets lost, delayed and opened, and jewelry is small enough to stay with you.

Velvet Lining and Leather Care

Velvet holds dust, so tip the box out and brush the lining with a soft, dry brush a few times a year. Make sure pieces are dry before they go in, because damp metal tarnishes faster in a closed space. The leather needs only a dry cloth and a little conditioner once a year. Eufaula comes in Brown and Navy.

Carry-On, Tarnish and Gift Season

Can jewelry stay in the box at airport security? Yes. A jewelry box goes through the scanner inside your bag like anything else. Wear as little metal as you can through the checkpoint and keep the box zipped in your personal item.

What keeps silver from tarnishing in a box? Dryness and less air. Put pieces away dry, add a small anti-tarnish strip or a silica packet, and keep silver apart from rubber bands and hair ties, which speed tarnish up.

Is a travel jewelry box a popular gift? Very. Searches in December run about eight times a normal month, with a smaller rise in May. It suits anyone who travels for work, a bride before a honeymoon, or a graduate leaving home.
