Product Type: Bracelets

This is a closed bangle of polished brass, smooth and rounded on the outside, with pairs of slanted notches carved into the band at intervals all the way around. The cuts break up the shine into small flashes as the wrist moves, so a plain ring of metal suddenly has rhythm. It comes in one size, 2.5 inches across the inside, which the Cambodian Artisans group describes as a larger wrist size, and it slides over the hand rather than opening.

  • Notches that catch light. Each carved pair throws a small spark, even on a gray day.
  • One measured size. 2.5 inches across the inside equals about 7.85 inches around.
  • Built for stacking. The slim, rounded band nests against other bangles without catching.

How to Measure Bangle Size Before You Order

Because it is closed, this bangle must clear your knuckles, so the hand, not the wrist, decides the fit. Tuck your thumb into the palm as if you were sliding on the bangle, then run a soft measuring tape across the knuckles at the broadest point of the hand. If that number is about 7.75 inches or less, this bangle will slide on; the inside circumference is about 7.85 inches, worked out from the 2.5 inch diameter.

No tape at home? Hold a bangle you already own against a ruler. If its inner width is 2.5 inches or less and it goes on comfortably, this one will too.

Bangle Bracelet That Moves With You

Once on, a bangle bracelet of this size hangs loosely and travels up and down the forearm, which is exactly the look. On a slim wrist it drops toward the hand and taps against a watch; worn in a group of three, as in the photograph, the bands chime softly when you move. For a closer, quieter fit, wear it above the wrist bone, where the forearm is wider and holds the bangle in place.

Will the Brass Darken?

Yes, gradually, and that is part of the appeal. Brass develops a warmer, slightly deeper tone with wear, and the carved notches darken a little faster than the raised band, which makes the pattern stand out more over time. A polishing cloth brightens the smooth surfaces and leaves the notches dark, a two-tone finish many people end up preferring. According to the maker, its brass comes from war-era metal gathered in Cambodia.

Carved Bangle Questions

Does brass jewelry tarnish if I wear it every day? It shifts color rather than flaking. Daily wear actually keeps the high points polished, so a bangle worn often looks brighter than one left in a drawer.

What if my hand measures over 7.75 inches? The bangle will be a struggle to get on and off. An open cuff, which slides on sideways at the wrist, is the easier shape for a larger hand.

How do you take a bangle off without strain? Use a little hand lotion, tuck the thumb in and roll the bangle over the knuckles in one slow motion, the same way it went on.
