Product Type: Decorative Pillows

A flamingo across an eighteen inch square pillow. Strong pink at the size that sets the tone for a whole seat.

Big Color, Big Format

  • Eighteen inches makes it the focus. At this size the pillow decides the palette of the seat rather than accenting one already chosen.
  • Pink needs fixed dyes. It is the first color to go chalky on outdoor fabric, and dye choice is the only thing that prevents it.
  • Substantial by design. The larger size takes more filling, which is what gives it enough body to lean against.

Setting The Scene

A rattan sofa, a covered daybed, or a wide bench where a single strong color does the work of a whole cushion scheme.

At this size it doubles as real back support instead of purely ornamental.

Looking After It

  • Do treat marks in place with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Do work from the outside of a mark inward
  • Do air dry it
  • Do shake it by hand every few weeks to restore the loft
  • Skip the washing machine; the sham and insert are one piece
  • Skip direct heat, which sets stains and stiffens fabric
  • Skip leaving it out in heavy rain

Damp, Not Drenched

Water resistant fabric copes with a damp morning, a shower caught under cover, and the odd spilled drink.

Left in real rain the fill takes on water that it releases slowly, which is what shortens an outdoor pillow's life.

Worth knowing: do not stack heavy things on it in storage. Compressed polyester fill takes months to recover loft, and sometimes does not fully.

Questions About The Flamingo Pillow

Is this bigger than a standard throw pillow?
Eighteen inches is the standard larger size, and it holds a sofa corner rather than sitting in front of other pillows.

How bold is the pink?
It is the dominant element of the design and reads clearly from across a room. That is the point of it.

Can it stay out all summer?
Under cover, comfortably. Shade also keeps the pink at full saturation for far longer.

Is the fill soft or firm?
Filled enough to support a back, soft enough to compress under weight. Shaking it out restores the shape.

Does it look pink or coral in daylight?
Closer to a true pink than to coral, with the warm ground behind it doing most of the work of making the bird stand forward.

Will it fade if it lives in a sunroom?
Glass reduces some but not all of the light that causes fading. A position out of the direct beam keeps the color longest.
