Orange and blue with the word pure written in script across it. Script lettering on a training shirt is a harder job than it looks, because a thin varying stroke has to survive a fabric full of holes: sports mesh is not a solid surface, and most print methods lose the fine parts of a letterform in the gaps.

Fine Lettering On An Open Mesh

  • Sublimation dyes each fiber individually. The color follows the yarn rather than bridging across the openings, so a thin script stroke stays continuous instead of breaking up.
  • Nothing is added to the surface. A vinyl or screen letter would seal the mesh shut behind it and create a hot, non-breathing patch exactly across the chest.
  • The lettering cannot crack. Script has thin joins, which are the first place a surface print splits once a garment is stretched repeatedly.

The Performance Specification

92% polyester with 8% spandex at 4.42 oz per square yard, or 150 gsm. Eight percent spandex is a high proportion, well above the three to five percent used in casual knits, and it is what gives the four-way stretch its range rather than just its softness. MaxDri moisture management and MicroBlok antimicrobial finish are both in the fabric.

Orange And Blue Under Gym Lighting

Complementary colors look strongest in daylight and can go slightly flat under fluorescent lighting, which is what most gyms have. That is a property of the lighting rather than the print, and the shirt reads at full strength again outdoors.

Wash It After Every Session

The antimicrobial finish limits odor between washes, and it is a delay rather than a substitute. Sweat left in any fabric will eventually set, so a rinse or a wash the same day is what keeps a training shirt usable long term.

Script, Stretch And Sizing

Is the lettering readable across a room? Script is slower to read than block type at any size, so this is legible at close range rather than from across a studio.

Is 8% spandex a lot? Yes, comparatively. A casual jersey usually runs 3 to 5%, so this fabric has meaningfully more give and more recovery than a standard tee.

Does the shirt run tight? It reads snug against the table, which is the intent for an athletic cut. Take the next size up only if you plan to layer over it.

These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Run a tape around the fullest part of your chest with your arms down, keep it level, and match the figure below. The fabric has four-way stretch, so a snug reading is fine; if you want room to layer, take the next size up.
