Coconut usually turns up at the top of a fragrance, where it reads as sunscreen and announces a vacation nobody is on. Here it is at the bottom instead, arriving hours in as a warm, creamy landing under amber and benzoin, and the difference between those two positions is the difference between a beach cliche and something you can wear to work.

  • Coconut in the base. Warm and late rather than sweet and immediate.
  • Cardamom in the opening. A spice edge where most tropical scents put more fruit.
  • Three white flowers. Tuberose, jasmine and ylang ylang in the middle.
  • Genuinely unisex. Nothing here leans one way or the other.

The Opening Is Not Tropical

Bergamot and tangerine start it, but cardamom and pepper are in there too, and they change the whole reading. What could have been a fruit salad instead comes across as bright and slightly spiced, closer to a market than to a poolside. Anyone expecting sweetness from the first second will be corrected inside a minute.

The tangerine is the softest thing in that opening and it fades quickest, leaving the cardamom exposed for a while before the flowers arrive.

Where the Flowers Sit

Tuberose, jasmine and ylang ylang fill the middle with a marine freshness running through them. That combination is lush without being heavy, and it is what carries the wear between the spiced start and the creamy finish. The flowers here are doing structural work rather than being the point.

Who Reaches for It

People who like the idea of a warm vacation scent and cannot wear the usual ones because they come across as a bottle of lotion. This works in an office in February and on a terrace in July, which is a wider range than almost anything with coconut in it manages.

Do Not Spray Your Hair

Hair holds fragrance longer than skin does, which is why the trick is tempting, but the alcohol in any perfume dries the strands and can dull colored hair over time. Mist the back of a hairbrush instead and run it through. You get the same lingering effect through the day with none of the damage, and it costs nothing but five extra seconds.

Questions About the Coconut

Is it a sunscreen scent? No. The coconut sits in the base and arrives late, warm rather than sweet.

Can it be worn in winter? Easily. The spiced opening gives it enough structure for cold months.

Is it heavy? Moderate. Full through the middle, then quieter as the hours pass.

Who is it aimed at? Anyone. There is nothing gendered in the composition.
