Aegean Waves takes its name from the sea between Greece and Turkey, and the print is built from that palette: layered blues moving across the garment the way water does, without a repeat you can trace. Gianneli is a Greek design house, and this is the piece in the range where that origin is the design rather than a footnote.

Where The Blues Come From

  • The palette is drawn from one place. Aegean blue is a specific range of tones, not a generic blue, which is why the shirt reads as somewhere rather than as a colour choice.
  • No repeat means no wallpaper effect. The waves are painted rather than tiled, so the eye does not find the seam where a pattern starts again.
  • Blue holds up better than most on a printed tee. Colour dyed into the fibre cannot lift, and blue is the shade people notice fading fastest when it is printed on the surface.

What It Is Made From

95% polyester with 5% elastane, composition varying by up to 1%, in a premium mid-weight jersey with four-way stretch recovering on both the cross and lengthwise grains. The mid weight is what keeps a saturated blue looking solid rather than washed thin, and it drapes without clinging. Blank components in the US and Mexico are sourced from the US, EU components from Lithuania.

Care Is Ordinary

Machine wash cool with like colours and it needs nothing else. There is no printed panel to protect, which is the practical advantage of a sublimated shirt over a screen-printed one: you wash the garment, not the graphic.

Blue On Blue Is The Trap

The obvious pairing is denim and it is the one to avoid. Two blues that are close but not matched read as a mistake, and indigo sits uncomfortably near several tones in this print. Stone, white, khaki and charcoal all work better and let the sea tones stay the only blue in the outfit.

The Sea, The Seams And The Size

Is the print the same on every shirt? The artwork is, but the section each garment takes depends on where it is cut from the printed cloth, so two shirts in different sizes carry the waves at slightly different points.

Does it work with jeans? Less well than you would expect. The print already carries several blues, and denim adds one more that will not quite match. Neutrals are the better choice here.

Does the cut run true to size? No. The gap between M and L is close to five inches while the other steps are around three, so a 40 to 42 inch chest needs L.

Size Guide

These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Run a tape around the fullest part of your chest with your arms down, keep it level, and match the figure below. Read this table before you order your usual size. The jump from M to L is nearly five inches, far wider than the gap between the other sizes, so a chest of 40 to 42 inches needs L rather than M.
