Product Type: Gloves

These wrist warmers are fingerless gloves in a soft heather gray, 8.5 inches long with a 2 inch slit for the thumb, so they cover the back of the hand, the wrist and a good stretch of forearm. They are Allpa's Essential Knit: a plain, smooth body with a rolled edge across the knuckles and a ribbed band at the arm end. Allpa gives the yarn as 70% baby alpaca, 23% polyamide and 7% wool.

  • Forearm coverage. At 8.5 inches the warmer runs well up the arm, past the point where a sweater sleeve rides back when you reach.
  • Ribbed arm band. The rib grips the forearm and keeps the warmer from sliding down toward the fingers.
  • Heather gray. A flecked mid gray that looks at home beside black, navy, camel or blue jeans.
  • Room for typing. The slit sits low, so the thumb reaches the space bar without bunching the knit.

Wrist Warmers or Fingerless Gloves

Wrist warmers and fingerless gloves are two names for close cousins, and this pair sits right between them. A fingerless glove usually has a shaped thumb and separate finger openings; a wrist warmer is a tube with a hole or slit for the thumb. The simple tube is what makes this style so easy to fit, because there is no thumb length or finger spacing to match to your hand. Pull it on, settle the slit at the base of the thumb and the rolled edge falls across the knuckles.

A Warm Layer for Cold Rooms

These come into their own indoors. A drafty home office, a cold kitchen first thing, an evening on the porch with a book: warm wrists make the whole hand feel warmer while your fingertips handle a keyboard, a pen or a page. Keep a pair by the desk and you will reach for it long after the coat goes back in the closet. Outdoors they slide under a coat sleeve, and the gray blend gives a little stretch so the cuff stays smooth instead of bunching.

Gray Alpaca Blend Care

Allpa's care line is short: cold water, a mild detergent, a gentle reshape while damp and a flat dry. Wash the pair together so they keep an identical shade, press them inside a rolled towel instead of wringing, and lay them straight with the ribbed band smoothed. A drying rack or a bed of towels works; a radiator does not, since direct heat can tighten the fibers.

Heather Gray Wrist Warmers in Use

Are wrist warmers the same as arm warmers? Arm warmers usually run well past the elbow. At 8.5 inches these stop on the forearm, so they fit under a fitted sleeve where arm warmers would not.

Can I hold a phone comfortably in them? Yes. The fingertips and the top of the thumb are bare, so a touchscreen responds normally, and the knit at the palm gives a soft grip on the case.

Do they work with short sleeves? They do, and that is a fun way to wear them indoors over a fitted tee, where the gray reads as a deliberate layer rather than winter gear.
