There is a material in this fragrance called cashmeran and almost nobody can name it, yet it is doing a great deal of the work. Warm, slightly musky, faintly woody and impossible to place, it sits in the heart holding the honey and the tobacco together. It is the reason the middle of this bottle feels seamless rather than assembled.

What the Tobacco Note Is

Tobacco as a fragrance note has nothing to do with cigarettes. It is the smell of the dried leaf itself: sweet, hay like, faintly leathery and rich rather than acrid. Anyone who has opened a fresh pouch of pipe tobacco knows it instantly. Paired with tonka bean and vanilla in the base it becomes one of the most comfortable finishes in perfumery.
