Tonka Bean Perfume

Tonka is a bean rather than a flavor, and the material taken from it is coumarin, which smells of almond, hay and pipe tobacco rather than of anything sugary. It is the note most often misread as vanilla on a label, and it is drier and more powdery than vanilla ever manages to be. If a fragrance struck you as warm without being sweet, tonka is usually the reason.
