Product Type: Gel Polish

Velvet is a finish, not a shade. NT-37 is a deep ruby that reads soft rather than wet, and that difference comes from how the light scatters off it rather than from the pigment itself.

Why It Reads As Velvet

A standard gloss red throws a hard highlight and the eye reads plastic. A velvet cast diffuses that highlight, so the same red looks like fabric depth instead of a reflective surface. On short nails especially it is the more expensive looking of the two.

Buildable Means You Choose The Depth

One thin coat gives a translucent ruby with the nail bed showing through. A second closes it to full depth. Nothing forces you to the darkest version, which is what lets one bottle cover a sheer autumn red and a near black cherry.

Pure Gel And What That Does To The Room

A pure gel carries no polish solvents, so there is nothing volatile leaving the bottle. That is why it is described as odor free, and on a product a tech opens forty times a week the absence of a smell is a working condition rather than a nicety.

The Sequence Nail Thoughts Specifies

Clean, buff and remove oils, then Builder Base Gel cured for 30 seconds under LED or 60 under UV. Color goes on thin and cures, a second layer if you want the depth, then Top Coat Gel to seal. The wear rating assumes that base underneath, not bare nail.

Where A Deep Red Costs You

High contrast at the cuticle means regrowth shows within two weeks, whatever the wear rating says. And a saturated red needs a cured base between it and the plate or it will mark the nail. Neither is a fault; both change how you book the next appointment.

NT-37 Questions

How do I get the sheer version rather than the deep one? Stop at one thin coat. The depth comes from the second.

What cures it? Thirty seconds under LED or sixty under UV, per layer.

Is a base coat really necessary? Yes. It is what stops a saturated red marking the natural nail, and it is what the wear figure assumes.
