Product Type: Gel Polish

This base levels the nail plate rather than building on top of it. The consistency is close to liquid, which is the opposite of what most camouflage bases do, and it is why a thin layer can even out a surface that would otherwise need filing.

A Base That Levels Instead Of Building

Thick camouflage bases hide irregularities by covering them, and that adds height you then have to file back. A near liquid consistency runs into the low spots and settles, so the plate comes out even at a fraction of the thickness. Less product, less filing, less bulk at the cuticle.

pH 6.5 And Why Low Acid Matters

Acid primers etch the plate to force adhesion. A low acid base at pH 6.5 works closer to the nail's own chemistry, which is gentler on a client who has been in gel continuously for years. It also means the base needs a clear substrate under it to grip properly, which is a real condition rather than a footnote.

Pigmentation Level 3 To 3.5

That number is what separates a camouflage base from a tinted one. At 3 to 3.5 it dries to genuine cover, so a French or a bare nail look holds up without a color coat over it. Lower and you would see the plate through it; higher and it would stop behaving like a base.

It Needs A Clear Base Under It

DARK is explicit: lay a transparent base substrate first, then this. Skipping that step is the most common reason a low acid base lifts, and it is not something you can compensate for with a longer cure.

Sixty Seconds At Forty Eight Watts

The cure figure is tied to lamp power. On a weaker lamp the same 60 seconds undercures, and an undercured base is soft under a hard color coat, which cracks. Match the wattage or extend the time.

Pro Base 52 Questions

Do I need a clear base underneath? Yes. DARK specifies a transparent substrate first for adhesion, and that step is not optional.

What does pigmentation 3 to 3.5 mean? It is DARK's own scale. At that level the base covers on its own rather than tinting.

Is 60 seconds enough on a lower wattage lamp? No. The figure assumes 48W. A weaker lamp needs longer or it undercures.
