Product Type: Wallets

A magnetic phone wallet puts the cards you need on the back of the phone you already carry. Cortland is TORONATA's card holder for the phone, which TORONATA lists in full-grain leather, with room for up to five cards and an oval cutout on the back for pushing them out.

  • Rides on the phone. One object to pick up instead of a phone and a wallet.
  • Up to five cards. Enough for a license, two payment cards and a transit card.
  • Thumb cutout. An oval window on the back lets you slide the stack up from behind.
  • Six colors. Tan, black, dark brown, gray, a mottled Antic Tan and a pebbled yellow.

How a Magnetic Phone Wallet Works

TORONATA describes the attachment as a secure stick-on with a magnetic hold that suits any phone. In the photographs it sits low on the back of an iPhone, below the cameras, so it stays out of the way of a call or a photo. Cards come out by pressing through the cutout and sliding them up, which means you can pay without taking the holder off. Load the card you use most at the back of the stack, nearest the cutout, so it is the first to move.

Cards and Magnets Side by Side

Chip cards, tap cards and phone payments are untouched by a magnet, because they keep their data in a chip rather than on a stripe. The cards to carry elsewhere are the ones that still rely on a magnetic stripe alone: hotel key cards, some parking and gym cards, and older gift cards, which a strong magnet can scramble. Before setting the phone on a wireless charger, take the holder off, since cards and leather between the coil and the phone stop it charging properly and warm the cards.

Six Colors from Tan to Yellow

Tan is the classic and darkens as you use it; the black and dark brown suit a dark phone; gray is the cool neutral. Antic Tan is a mottled light brown with darker clouds, and the yellow has a pebbled grain that hides fingerprints. Pick a color that contrasts with your phone if you want to find it fast in a bag, or match it for a quieter look.

Cortland Card Holder Fit and Use

Will it work with a phone case? A case with a flat, smooth back is the safest base; a textured or curved case gives it less to grip.

How many cards should ride on a phone? Three or four is the comfortable number. Five fit, but a thinner stack slides out more easily through the cutout and keeps the phone easy to pocket.

Is it made for men or women? Both. It is cut to the phone, not the person, and TORONATA pitches it at men and women alike.
