Nearly every figure here is built to stand up. This one is built to lie flat, 3.75 inches long by 3.5 wide, which makes it almost square in plan and the only piece in the group that cannot fall over. That shape is why it works on a windowsill, in a terrarium or on top of a stack of books where a standing animal would not.

Flat Instead of Standing

Standing figures need a level surface and a clear footprint. A flat one needs neither, which quietly makes this the easiest piece in the range to place. It will sit on a sloping sill, inside a planted tank or on an uneven pile of books without a moment's worry, and it is the one to hand a small child in a car.

Why the Head Looks Too Big

It is meant to. A loggerhead's skull is enormous relative to its body because it houses the jaw muscle the animal uses to crush conch and clam shells. Anything that looks out of proportion here is the sculpt being accurate rather than the sculpt being off.

Water and Paint

The plastic itself is unbothered by water, so a tank or a bathroom shelf is fine. What eventually dulls a figure is not moisture but abrasion, so keep gritty cleaners and scouring pads away from it and the shell tones will stay as they arrived.
