Mesh on both flanks and a clear panel at the front is more airflow than a solid capsule can offer, because two of the four walls are open weave rather than plastic. It is the cooler option in this range.

Two Walls Of Mesh, One Of Plastic

A capsule ventilates through drilled holes, which is a small fraction of the surface. Replacing whole side panels with open mesh changes the scale of it: air crosses the pack rather than seeping through it. On a summer walk that is the difference you can feel by putting a hand against the side.

The Clear Panel Stays At The Front

Mesh is breathable and it is not see through in the way a cat wants. Keeping a clear PVC panel at the front gives the animal a defined view forward while the sides do the breathing, which is a better split than making the whole shell one material.

A Pocket On The Outside

There is a zipped side pocket on the shell. A treat pouch, a folded towel or a vet card lives there instead of in a coat, which is the sort of thing you only appreciate on the third trip.

Structure Where It Is Needed

The pack is built from PVC and Oxford cloth with a built in lock on the closure. A lock that is part of the zipper track rather than a clip hanging off the pull cannot be worked loose from inside and cannot snag on a door frame.

Where Mesh Is The Wrong Choice

Mesh breathes both ways. In cold wind or rain it offers far less shelter than a closed capsule, so this is a warm weather and indoor pack rather than a winter one. A cat that hooks claws into fabric will also find more to grip here than on a smooth shell.

Is the mesh strong enough to hold a cat that pushes? The mesh panels are set into a structured frame rather than forming the structure, so the shape is held by the shell.

Does it keep an animal warm in winter? Not particularly. Open sides trade shelter for airflow, which is the point of the design and its limit.

What fits in the side pocket? Flat items: a card, a folded cloth, a treat pouch. It is not a second compartment.
