Yellow and pink with dark scoring cut through it. The dark marks are what make this one work, because two bright warm tones with nothing between them have no structure: the eye finds no edges and the whole garment reads as a wash. The scoring gives the colour something to sit against.

Structure Is What Bright Colour Needs

• Dark lines create depth on a flat palette. Without them yellow and pink occupy the same visual distance; with them the design has a front and a back.
• The marks read as drawn, not printed. Sublimation holds a tapering line where a coarse print would give it a uniform thickness and kill the gesture in it.
• Contrast survives washing. Dark against bright is the hardest combination to keep clean on a surface print, because the dark fades first. Dye inside the fibre does not fade at all.

Printed Before It Became A Garment

The cloth is printed flat and the panels are cut from it afterwards. That is why the scoring runs across the shoulder and down the sleeve without a break, and it is not possible on a garment printed after assembly, where every design stops at the panel edge. 70% polyester, 27% cotton and 3% elastane at 8.85 oz per square yard, weight varying by up to 5%.

Two Bright Colours, One Cost

Yellow is the least forgiving colour on a garment worn outdoors. It shows marks earlier than any other shade and the cuffs go first. Wash inside out, keep it out of the dryer, and deal with a mark the day it happens rather than the week after.

Nothing Else Warm Below It

Indigo, black, charcoal and white. The hoodie has spent the entire colour budget, so anything warm on the bottom half turns the outfit into a competition. Keep footwear plain for the same reason.

Marks, Seams And Sizing

Are the dark marks black or a deep tone of the print? They read as near-black scoring rather than a flat black, which is what keeps them looking drawn into the artwork rather than laid over it.

Does the design continue on the hood? Yes, on both faces. The hood is double lined and printed inside and out, so it shows the artwork whether it is up or down.

How much room does the relaxed fit give? Enough for a t-shirt or thin long sleeve at your measured chest size. Measure rather than assuming the letter size you wear in a fitted shirt.
