Orange and blue abstract across a heavy brushed fleece. The number that matters on this one is 300 gsm, and it is worth understanding before ordering: that is roughly twice the weight of an ordinary sweatshirt, which puts this garment in a different category from the hoodie most people own.
What Twice The Weight Actually Buys
- It works as outerwear. At this weight the hoodie is the coat on a cool day rather than the layer that needs one over it.
- It holds its shape standing up. Heavy fleece has body, so the hood stands rather than collapsing flat against the back and the hem does not curl.
- Dense cloth carries colour better. A saturated orange on a thin knit looks washed out; on 300 gsm it reads at full strength.
The Fabric, Face And Back
70% polyester, 27% cotton and 3% elastane at 8.85 oz per square yard, weight varying by up to 5%. The outer face is a soft cotton-feel fabric and the inside is brushed fleece, so the surface that shows behaves like cotton while the surface against your skin is the warm one. The 3% elastane is what stops a garment this heavy from feeling rigid.
Where The Weight Costs You
A heavy fleece takes a long time to dry. Do not expect it back the same day after a wash, and do not pack it as the only warm layer on a wet trip, because 300 gsm holds water and gives it up slowly. That is the honest trade for the warmth.
Hood Down Is Still Printed
The hood is double lined with the design on both faces, so the underside is artwork rather than blank cloth when the hood sits down across the shoulders. Drawstrings and overlock seams throughout; overlock is the seam that flexes with a heavy knit instead of resisting it.
Weight, Drying And Fit
How does 300 gsm compare with a normal hoodie? Around double. A standard sweatshirt sits near 150 to 180 gsm, so this is a substantially heavier garment and it feels like one when you pick it up.
Will it shrink? No. The blend is mostly polyester, which does not shrink the way cotton does, so the measurements in the table hold after washing.
Should I size up for layering? Not usually. The cut is already relaxed and there is room for a t-shirt or a thin long sleeve underneath at your measured size.
Size Guide
These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Go by your chest. Run a tape around the fullest part with your arms down and keep it level. Waist and hips are listed for anyone whose hips run several inches fuller than their chest, since a hoodie ends at the hip and that is where it can catch.
| Size | Chest | Waist | Hips |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 34⅝ in / 88 cm | 26¾ in / 68 cm | 37 in / 94 cm |
| S | 36¼ in / 92 cm | 28⅜ in / 72 cm | 38⅝ in / 98 cm |
| M | 37¾ in / 96 cm | 29⅞ in / 76 cm | 40⅛ in / 102 cm |
| L | 41 in / 104 cm | 33⅛ in / 84 cm | 43¼ in / 110 cm |
| XL | 44⅛ in / 112 cm | 36¼ in / 92 cm | 46½ in / 118 cm |
| 2XL | 47¼ in / 120 cm | 39⅜ in / 100 cm | 49⅝ in / 126 cm |
| 3XL | 50⅜ in / 128 cm | 42½ in / 108 cm | 52¾ in / 134 cm |
