Blue and yellow on slim-fit joggers with cuffed legs. The cuff is what makes a tapered trouser read as designed rather than as shrunk, and it is doing something structural: a ribbed cuff holds the leg opening at a fixed width, so the taper above it is a deliberate line instead of fabric that simply narrows and then flaps.
Why The Cuff And The Taper Work Together
- The hem stays put. An open hem on a tapered leg rides up over a shoe and shifts as you walk; a cuff sits where you set it.
- It shows the shoe. Holding the leg at the ankle leaves the whole shoe visible, which is the reason cuffed joggers work with trainers where a straight trouser covers them.
- It keeps warmth in. A closed ankle stops the chimney effect that pulls cold air up an open leg, which on a fleece-lined trouser matters.
Three Hundred Grams On The Lower Half
70% polyester, 27% cotton and 3% elastane at 8.85 oz per square yard, 300 gsm. That is a heavy trouser fabric, roughly double the weight of ordinary sweatpants, with a soft cotton-feel face and a brushed fleece interior. The 3% elastane is what lets a slim cut bend at the knee without pulling.
Waist And Pockets
Elastic waistband with a white drawstring, and practical pockets at the sides.
Where Slim And Heavy Disagree
A slim cut in a 300 gsm fabric is warm, and warmth is the point in cold weather. Indoors in a heated room these will be too much for most people, and the same weight that makes them right for a winter walk makes them wrong for lounging in summer.
Before You Order
How slim is slim? Tapered from the thigh down to a ribbed cuff at the ankle, close to the leg without being tight, and the elastane is what keeps it comfortable at the knee.
Are these warm enough for outdoors? At 300 gsm with a brushed fleece interior, yes, for cold dry weather. They are not windproof or water-resistant, so wind cuts through them.
Will they shrink? No. The blend is mostly polyester, so the fit after washing is the fit they arrived with.
