Two decorations are working at two different distances on this dress. The Cinderella Divine Floral Embroidered Tulle Mini Dress carries embroidery on the bodice, which you read from a conversation away, and glitter across the skirt, which is the only one of the two that carries across a room.

Two Decorations Two Distances

Embroidery is texture. It is raised thread you can see the direction of, and it needs proximity to register at all. At six feet it reads as a pattern; at twenty it reads as a slightly darker area.

Glitter does the opposite. It returns light in points, so it announces itself down the length of a room and tells you almost nothing up close. Putting one on the bodice and the other on the skirt means the dress has something to offer at both ranges rather than repeating itself.

A Boned Bodice in a Mini

Boning in a short dress is less common than it looks, because a mini has no long skirt to anchor it and the bodice has to do all the holding on its own. Here rigid strips run through a sheer corset bodice, under a sweetheart neckline on fine spaghetti straps.

The result is a bodice that stays exactly where it was placed while the skirt moves freely, which is the split most people actually want from a party dress. Champagne, light blue, light pink and sage all run across the full size range.

Sweet Sixteen and Garden Parties

A sweet sixteen, a homecoming, a garden party, a bridal shower and a graduation lunch all take a short A-line with a structured top. The four shades lean spring and daytime rather than evening.

A boned bodice gives you nothing on the day. Unlike a laced back or a tie strap, there is no adjustment built in anywhere, so the band you order is the band you wear. Order early enough to have the side seams altered if it is not right first time.

Every figure above is in inches and is taken on the body rather than on the finished garment, so measure the fullest part of the bust, the narrowest part of the waist an inch or two above the navel, and the fullest part of the hips.

Read the bust and the ribcage together on a boned bodice, since the bones sit against the ribs and decide comfort long before the bust measurement decides appearance. The hip figure does nothing here, because a short A-line skirt in tulle leaves the waist and never touches the hip.

Corset Fit and Care

How much can a boned bodice be taken in? Around two sizes, and the work means opening the seams around each bone and resetting them. It costs more than adjusting a plain bodice and it takes longer, so book it rather than assuming it can be done in a week.

Will the bodice show through under lighting? The corset panel is sheer by design, so it is meant to be seen. What is not meant to be seen is anything worn underneath it, which is why adhesive cups are the only sensible option with this shape.

Does the embroidery survive dry cleaning? Ask the cleaner to work by hand and to keep heat away from the glitter, which is the part most likely to be damaged. Raised thread on tulle is delicate and a machine press flattens both at once.

How should the skirt be kept between wearings? Hanging, with the tulle free rather than compressed against other garments. Layered netting recovers from hanging and takes a set from being crushed, and a set crease on a short skirt is at eye level.
