The usual complaint about citrus fragrances is that they are gone by lunchtime. This one is built the other way round: mandarin and grapefruit at the top, then black pepper and orange blossom holding the middle, and a musk and amber base still working when you get home. Bright at nine and still working at six.

  • Citrus that lasts. Mandarin and grapefruit over a base with real staying power.
  • Pepper in the middle. Keeps it from turning into a soft drink.
  • Orange blossom, not perfume. A white floral that reads clean rather than sweet.

The Pepper Is Doing the Work

Take the black pepper out and this becomes a pleasant, forgettable citrus. Leave it in and there is a dry, slightly prickly edge running under the fruit that stops the whole thing reading as juice. It is the note that makes this suitable for an office rather than a beach, and almost nobody notices it consciously.

How It Sits at Work

This is a fragrance for shared air. It stays near you, it does not compete with anyone else's, and it reads as clean rather than as scented, which is the useful distinction in a room where somebody is always sensitive to something. Worn in the evening it can feel a little polite, but that is the trade.

Orange Blossom Explained

Orange blossom is a white floral and it behaves nothing like the fruit. Where mandarin is bright and sharp, the blossom is soft, waxy and slightly green, and it sits in the middle here bridging the citrus opening and the warm base. It is the reason the transition feels smooth rather than abrupt.

Use Your Inner Elbow

Wrists are the default and they are also the first place a fragrance disappears if you wash your hands regularly through the day. The inside of the elbow is just as warm, stays covered, and survives a dozen trips to a sink. Anyone in a job with a hand washing habit will get hours more wear from the same two sprays.
