Product Type: Matching Sets

Long sleeves and a collar buttoned to the throat sound like the wrong idea for July. On eyelet they are not, and the holes are the reason — this set covers almost all of you and still lets the air through.

Why the Holes Are the Point

Every opening in this cloth is punched and then bound with thread around its rim. That binding is what stops the hole running, and it is also what turns a decorative surface into a working one: air passes where the thread circles instead of stopping at a flat weave.

Most people assume a covered summer outfit is a compromise you accept for an occasion. On this cloth it is not a compromise at all, which is the whole argument for owning it.

What Tiers Do to a Long Skirt

One panel falling to the ankle reads as a single flat drop. Splitting the skirt into tiers puts a band of gathering at every join, so width arrives in steps and the eye reads shape instead of distance.

The scalloped edges repeat that idea small. A curved finish reads as intention along a white hem, where a straight machine line reads as the fastest way to end the cloth. Together the tiers and the curves are what separate this from a plain cotton skirt of the same length and the same color.

What You Trade for Covered

You give up layering. Nothing goes over this without hiding the surface you paid for, so it is the outfit rather than a component of one, and a cold room is its enemy rather than a rainy one.

What you get back is an occasion most summer wardrobes cannot dress for: a service, a christening, a destination wedding you are attending, a garden lunch with an invitation attached. Modest, and still cool enough to sit outside in for an afternoon without wanting to change.

Size and Fit Guidance

Four bands are cut for this set, published by BYMANYC in inches and measured on the wearer rather than on the finished garment.

Size US Bust Waist Hip
S US 4-6 34-35 in 26-27 in 36-37 in
M US 8-10 36-37 in 28-29 in 38-39 in
L US 12-14 38-40 in 30-32 in 41-42 in
XL US 16 41-42 in 33-34 in 43-44 in

Measure the bust at its fullest with the tape level under the arms, the waist at its narrowest, and the hip around the widest point, keeping the tape snug but not tight and taking every figure over what you intend to wear underneath.

A single row is asked to fit a buttoned top and a gathered skirt at once. Take the chest figure as the instruction and let the skirt follow, because gathering absorbs a hip while a button front absorbs nothing.

Before You Order

Does light pass through it? It does, since the cloth is built with openings rather than printed to look that way. A slip under the skirt settles the question outdoors.

Can the halves be split up? Yes, and the top is the piece that travels furthest — an eyelet blouse works over a plain trouser long after the skirt has gone back in the wardrobe.

Is white here a wedding problem? Only if the bride is somebody else. That single restriction aside, white is no more limiting in daylight than navy.

Is it made to order? Yes. BYMANYC produces this range once an order exists rather than holding stock.
