Product Type: Sneakers

Most sneakers put the color on the upper and leave the sole white. This pair inverts that: a green and black upper sitting on a bright yellow sole, so the loudest part of the shoe is the part touching the ground.

Why the Sole Is the Signal

Putting the color underneath changes how the shoe reads when you are wearing it rather than looking at it on a shelf. From standing height the upper is what you see and it is relatively dark; the yellow only appears when the foot moves. The shoe is quiet at rest and loud in motion.

It also means the sneaker survives being worn with a plain outfit. A bright upper competes with whatever is above it; a bright sole does not.

How a Two-Tone Upper Behaves

Green against black is a high contrast pairing, and the panels are cut so the two do not simply split the shoe in half. That keeps the outline from looking chopped, which is the usual failure of a two-color sneaker.

The vegan build matters here for a practical reason as much as any other: there is no animal leather to crease across the toe box, so the shoe holds its shape rather than folding into a permanent line.

Where a Loud Sneaker Belongs

Two places it earns its keep. Under something quiet — flat trousers, a plain knit — so the shoe does all the talking. And on a long day of walking a city, where a sneaker is the sensible answer and this one at least is not beige.

It will never pass unnoticed under tailoring. Wearing these with a suit is a statement rather than a default. But it is cut on a unisex last across two size scales, which is about as wide a door as a shoe gets.

How the Sizing Runs

The same shoe is listed twice: once on the women's US scale from 6 to 10.5, once on the men's from 7 to 13.5, in whole and half sizes throughout. Only the label differs. Pick the scale you normally buy in and read your usual number off it.

The run is continuous through both scales, so there is no gap to work around, and a lace fastening gives a little adjustment that a pull-on shoe does not.

Before You Order

Are the two scales two different shoes? No. It is one shoe listed on both the women's and the men's US scale, so buy on whichever you normally use.

Will the yellow sole mark? A pale sole on any sneaker picks up more than a dark one.

Does it work with tailoring? Only deliberately. A sole this bright under a suit announces itself, so wear it as the decision of the outfit or choose something quieter.

Is there animal leather in it? None. BYMANYC states it builds its footwear without hide of any kind.

Is it made to order? Yes. BYMANYC produces this range once an order exists rather than holding stock.
