Teal, green and orange brushed across the canvas, printed flat before the shoe was cut and stitched by hand. Teal and orange sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, which is why this pair looks brighter than the sum of its parts. Two complementary colours placed side by side make each other look stronger, and the green in between stops the contrast turning harsh.
Complementary Colour, And Two Other Reasons To Buy
- The brightness is structural, not saturation. Opposing colours amplify each other, so the pair reads vivid without the print being turned up.
- Nothing sits on the surface to crack. Sublimation dyes the fabric itself, so the flex points at toe and ankle have no film to break.
- Door frames hit the cap, not the print. The faux leather toe covers the spot canvas wears through first.
How It Feels On A Long Walk
A 100% polyester canvas upper on an EVA rubber outsole. EVA is a foamed rubber, not a solid one: it takes the impact out of each step and flexes with the foot while keeping the pair light. Padding runs the whole way round the collar, which is what separates a high top you wear all day from one that comes off at lunch. Inside there is a breathable lining and a soft insole, and the lacing runs up to the top of the ankle so the fit tightens or eases to your foot rather than the other way round.
What Not To Do With Them
Damp cloth, a little soap, and the canvas comes clean. Keep the pair out of the washing machine. The print would come through fine, but the sole is bonded on a hand-assembled shoe and the bond is what gives way.
There will be a glue smell when the box is opened. Hand assembly does that. Leave the pair out in open air and it clears within a few days.
Styling Two Strong Colours
Teal and orange are strong enough to carry an otherwise plain outfit, so keep the clothes quiet and let the shoe work. White, cream, denim and olive all sit comfortably underneath it. A cropped or turned-up hem shows the ankle, which is where most of the brushwork lands.
Grass Or Sea, And Two More
Is the green closer to grass or to sea? Sea. The green here reads as a blue-green sitting between the teal and the orange rather than a warm leaf green, which is why the whole pair leans cool despite the orange in it.
Does the orange fade faster than the rest? No. Every colour in the print is dyed into the fibre in the same pass, so they age together. Fading on a sublimated print comes from the fabric wearing thin, not from one pigment failing before another.
Will the two shoes be identical? No. The artwork is printed across one continuous panel and cut afterwards, so each shoe takes a different section. They read as a matched pair rather than a mirrored one.
Size Guide
Stand on a sheet of paper and measure heel to longest toe, then match the length below rather than ordering your usual number. Foot length is rounded to the nearest quarter inch, so some neighboring half sizes read the same. If you fall between two, take the larger.
