Product Type: Robes

A plush robe earns its place on the first cold morning of the year, and this one is built for exactly those mornings. The Kaylee from Be Wicked is a knee-length wrap in thick, fuzzy polyester plush, with a shawl collar that folds up around the neck, long sleeves, two patch pockets and a tie belt. It is the robe you put on before the coffee and forget to take off until noon.

  • Shawl collar wrap. One continuous rolled band runs from the neck to the belt, so the front closes without buttons.
  • Pockets at hand height. Two patch pockets on the front take a phone, a remote or cold hands.
  • Prints or solids. Four colorways carry white stars or polka dots; the other nine are solid.
  • Roomy paired sizing. Cut as S/M, L/XL and 2X/3X for an easy wrap.

Plush Versus Fleece Robes

Plush and fleece are both polyester, and the difference is the pile. Fleece is brushed flat; plush keeps a longer, denser pile that holds more still air next to the body, which is why a plush robe feels warmer at the same weight and softer when you press a hand into it. That pile is also why care matters. Heat is what flattens plush, so the maker's care is a gentle hand wash in cold water, then a flat dry, keeping it away from the dryer, the iron and high heat. Skip the dryer and the pile keeps standing wash after wash.

Picking a Print or a Solid

A fuzzy surface collects lint, and the color you choose decides how much of it you see. Dark solids such as black, plum and chocolate show lint and pet hair first, while the dotted and starred colorways break it up so it barely registers. If you share the sofa with a dog or a cat, the gray with white stars or the gray with white dots will look tidier for longer.

Solid pastels like lavender, light blue and pink give the softest, most classic look, and the deep olive and burgundy read warm and wintry beside a fire.

Plush Robe on Winter Mornings

How warm is a plush robe compared with cotton? Noticeably warmer at the same thickness, because the dense pile traps air the way a blanket does. Cotton terry wins for drying off; plush wins for staying warm afterward.

Will the pile shed in the first wash? New plush can release a few loose fibers at first. Wash it on its own in cold water, lay it flat to dry, and a lint roller takes care of anything left on the surface.

How do the paired sizes work? Each size covers two letters, so S/M is the pick for anyone who normally wears an S or an M. If you sit at the top of one pair and like a deep overlap at the front, take the next pair up.

Is a plush robe a safe Christmas gift? Few robes are safer to give, since paired sizing forgives a guess. Search interest in plush robes climbs through November and peaks every December.
