Product Type: Keychains

Keys are the most handled objects you own and usually the worst organized. Thermopolis is TORONATA's leather key fob keychain: a leather strap with two key rings and a swivel clasp, in seven colors.

  • Two key rings. Two sets of keys on one fob, each removable without disturbing the other.
  • Swivel clasp. It clips to a belt loop or a ring inside a bag and turns freely, so the keys never twist the strap.
  • A leather strap. Something large and soft to grab, easy to find by touch.
  • Seven colors. Tan, Black, Dark Blue, Gray, Red, Antic Brown and Antic Dark Brown.

What a Leather Key Fob Is

A leather key fob is the strap of leather that anchors a set of keys, and the term gets confused with two other things: the electronic remote that unlocks a car, and the covers sold to protect that remote. This is the first kind. Its purpose is physical. A strap gives a bunch of keys a handle, which makes them easier to pull from a pocket, easier to find at the bottom of a bag and harder to leave on a counter, because a fob the size of a finger is hard to overlook.

Two Rings, One Swivel Clasp

Two rings let you split your keys by who needs them. Put the house keys on one and the car key on the other, and you can hand a single ring to a valet, a mechanic or a house sitter while the rest stays with you. The clasp is for where the keys live between uses: clipped to a belt loop on a walk, or to the ring many totes have sewn inside, so you stop digging. If your car starts with a turned key, keep that ring light and let the fob hang from the clasp side, since a heavy bunch swinging from the ignition wears the lock cylinder over the years.

Seven Colors, One Per Key Set

Color is a sorting tool. One fob per set, home, office, a parent's house, and the right keys come off the hook without reading labels. Red and Tan are the easiest to see inside a dark bag; Black and Dark Blue are the quietest on a belt loop. Leather on a keychain ages faster than leather anywhere else, because it is handled dozens of times a day, and within a few months it turns darker and smoother at the edges.

Remotes, Phones and Small Gifts

Is a leather key fob the same as a key fob cover? No. A cover is a sleeve for a car's electronic remote. A leather key fob is a strap that holds key rings, and a remote can hang from one of its rings like any other key.

What keeps keys from scratching a phone? Distance. Hang the fob from a belt loop, or from the inside ring of your bag, and the keys stay clear of a phone carried in a pocket or a compartment.

Does a leather keychain need care? Very little. Dry it with a soft cloth if it gets wet, and let hand oils do the conditioning. If the edges dry out after a year or two, a drop of leather conditioner rubbed in with a fingertip restores them.
