Product Type: Keychains

A tracker only works if it stays attached, and the holder is the part that does that. Saratoga is TORONATA's leather holder for the Apple AirTag, with a key ring, a loop for straps and handles, and an opening that lets the tag in and out. TORONATA lists the leather as full-grain and says it softens and darkens with age.

  • Cut for one device. TORONATA makes it for the Apple AirTag only and describes the fit as tight.
  • Ring and loop. The ring takes keys, and the loop goes around a bag strap or a luggage handle.
  • Open access. The tag slides out for a battery change without tools.
  • Eleven colors. Enough to give every set of keys and every suitcase in the house its own.

A Leather AirTag Holder, Two Attachments

A leather AirTag holder has two jobs: keep the tracker from falling out, and fasten it to the thing you would hate to lose. Saratoga covers the second job twice. The key ring makes it a keychain. The loop threads around a backpack strap, a camera bag handle or the grab handle of a suitcase, places a ring cannot go. It is a holder only: the AirTag is Apple's, and you bring your own. Leather does not weaken the signal, since the tag's Bluetooth and ultra wideband radios pass through it as they pass through fabric.

Where to Attach an AirTag

Keys are the obvious place, and the most useful, because keys get lost at home more than anywhere. Next is the bag you put down in public: a work tote, a gym bag, a camera bag. For a checked suitcase, fasten the holder to a strap or a pocket on the inside. A holder hanging from the outside handle can be torn off by a conveyor, and then the tag reports the location of a baggage hall floor. For a carry-on, the outside handle is fine, and the color helps you spot the bag.

Eleven Colors and Battery Changes

Saratoga comes in Tan, Dark Brown, Pink, Black, Gray, Blue, Red, Purple, Leopard Pattern, Mink and Antic Tan, in TORONATA's names. Assign one color per person or per bag and a pile of keys on the hall table sorts itself. The AirTag runs on a CR2032 coin cell that lasts about a year. When the phone warns you, slide the tag out, twist off its steel back, swap the cell and slide it in again.

Signal, Luggage and Gift Season

Does a leather holder muffle the AirTag sound? Slightly, the way a pocket does. The opening in the holder lets the chirp out, and the precision finding on a phone does not depend on the speaker at all.

Can one AirTag move between holders? Yes. The tag is tied to your Apple account, not to the holder, so one tag can ride on keys during the week and go into a suitcase holder for a trip.

Which months are busiest for AirTag holders? Searches jump in October and rise again in December. They are small gifts and travel purchases, bought before the holiday flights when luggage goes missing most.
