Product Type: Rings

A round stone circled by tiny sparkle is the classic special-occasion ring, and this version keeps it light and easy to wear. The center is a 5 mm round stone, about 0.2 inch across, framed by clear cubic zirconia on a slim polished band, and the ring weighs about 1.9 grams (0.07 oz).

  • Three center stones. Hessonite garnet, green onyx or white zircon, as Desiregem names them.
  • Bigger-looking center. The ring of clear CZ widens the face, so a small center stone carries like a larger one.
  • Slim round band. A narrow polished shank keeps the focus on the top and sits comfortably beside other rings.
  • Sizes 6 to 8. Desiregem makes it in US ring sizes 6, 7 and 8.

What Is a Halo Ring?

A halo ring is a center stone surrounded by a close circle of smaller stones, here a full ring of clear CZ set in tiny prongs. The circle does two jobs at once: it adds sparkle around a center that might not sparkle by itself, and it pushes the visible edge of the face outward, which is why halo settings are a favorite for making a modest center look generous. Desiregem lists the metal as 18K gold plated brass.

This is a classic, visible halo on the top of the ring. A hidden halo, the other style people search for, puts the small stones underneath the center where they only show from the side.

Picking the Center Stone

Each center changes the character of the ring. Hessonite garnet is transparent and deep red, so light runs through it and the CZ frame glitters around a warm glow. Green onyx is opaque, a flat, bright green with no sparkle of its own, which makes the white halo look sharper by contrast. White zircon gives an all-white face, the closest look to a traditional engagement setting.

For daily wear with a lot of color in the closet, white is the easy one. For a ring that gets comments, choose the green.

Halo Ring Wear and Pairing

Can a halo ring be worn as an engagement ring? It is built as fashion jewelry, plated brass with lab-grown CZ, so it suits a promise ring, a placeholder while the real ring is resized, or simply a special-occasion piece. Plating is a thin layer over the brass, so take the ring off for showers, swimming and hand washing, let lotion and perfume dry before it goes back on, and store it on its own in a dry pouch.

Will the halo catch on knitwear? The small prongs around the CZ can pick at loose, fluffy knits. Turn the stone toward your palm when you pull on a mohair sweater and turn it back afterward.

What sits well next to a halo ring? A thin plain band on one side keeps the halo the star. Two halos on one hand compete, so give a second statement ring its own hand.
