Red, blue and white thrown across the canvas in splashes, printed flat and then cut and sewn by hand. This is the loudest pair in the range and it is meant to be. The white ground keeps the two strong colours apart instead of letting them muddy, which is why the design still reads as separate strokes from across a room rather than collapsing into one dark mass.

What The White Ground Is Doing

• It stops the colours merging. Red beside blue on a dark base turns muddy at a distance; a white gap between them keeps both legible.
• The print cannot lift. Sublimation puts the colour inside the fibre, so there is no film sitting on the surface waiting to crack at the toe crease.
• The toe is already protected. A faux leather cap covers the panel canvas always loses first, so scuffs land on the cap rather than on the artwork.

Light Sole, Padded Ankle

A 100% polyester canvas upper on an EVA rubber outsole. EVA is foamed rather than solid, so the sole cushions the step and bends with the foot while staying light; a vulcanized rubber sole would be stiffer and heavier for no gain here. The collar is padded right round the ankle, and without that the top edge sits on the ankle bone and rubs within the hour. Breathable lining, soft insole, lacing to the top.

Washing Rules And The Boxed Smell

Wipe the canvas with a damp cloth and a little soap. Do not put the pair in a washing machine. The print would survive it; the glue holding a hand-assembled sole will not.

Expect a glue smell on opening the box. It is normal for a hand-built canvas shoe, it clears in a few days if the pair is left out in the air, and it is not a sign of a fault or a return.

Keep Everything Else Plain

With this much going on underfoot the rest should stay quiet. Solid white, navy or black on top, and a straight or cropped leg so the printed ankle is visible. Pairing this with a patterned trouser puts two designs in competition and both lose.

Where This Pair Does Not Belong

Is this too loud for an office? For anywhere with a dress code, yes. This pair is built to be noticed rather than to blend in, so a workplace that expects plain footwear is the wrong home for it.

Does the white ground stay white? It is printed fabric, not a coated surface, so it marks like any pale canvas and cleans the same way. Wiping a mark off the same day is the difference between a shoe that stays bright and one that greys.

Do the left and right match? No, and it is deliberate. The print is laid over one continuous panel before cutting, so each shoe takes a different part of the splash. They belong together without being identical.
