Clochard Grunge Gold Men's High Top Sneakers

Gold and grey marbled across the canvas, printed flat and then cut and hand-stitched. This is a Clochard Grunge design, the weathering series, and the brightest reading of it: the surface behaves like marble with gold running through it, and the gold is what carries the pair from a quiet shoe to a visible one.

Gold Without Glitter

• It is a colour, not a coating. The gold is dyed into the fibre by sublimation, so there is no foil or metallic film to flake away at the flex points.
• Grey does the neutral work. With grey carrying most of the surface the pair goes with black, charcoal, white and indigo without anything needing to match it.
• The most exposed panel is capped. Faux leather covers the part canvas always loses first, taking kerb and doorframe damage instead of the print.

What Holds It Together

A 100% polyester canvas upper on an EVA rubber outsole. EVA is foamed rather than solid rubber: it absorbs the step and bends with the foot without the weight of a vulcanized sole. Padding runs the full circumference of the collar, which is where an unpadded high top starts to hurt inside the first hour. Breathable lining, soft insole, and lacing that runs to the top of the ankle. The blank is sourced from China and each pair is assembled by hand after the fabric is printed.

Cloth And Soap, Never The Drum

Damp cloth and a little soap for the canvas. Do not machine wash the pair. The print would be unharmed but the bonded sole on a hand-built shoe would not survive it.

Expect a glue smell when the box is opened. It comes from hand assembly, it is not a defect, and it clears in a few days if the pair is left out in the air.

Match The Metal, Not The Colour

Grey behaves as a neutral and the gold acts like a metallic accent rather than a colour, which is an unusual combination on a sneaker: the pair works with black, charcoal, white and indigo without needing anything to match it. Keep watch and buckle metal in the same warm family and the gold stops looking accidental.

What Shine You Are Actually Getting

Is the gold shiny or matte? Matte. It is a gold tone dyed into cloth, not a metallic finish, so it reads as warm ochre rather than as reflective foil. Anyone expecting a shine will be disappointed; anyone who wanted gold without glitter will not.

Is the weathered effect a flaw? No. Clochard Grunge is built to imitate aged surfaces, so the broken, uneven marbling is the design working as intended rather than a printing error or a damaged unit.

Do both shoes show the same marbling? No. The print is laid across one continuous panel and cut afterwards, so the veining runs differently on each shoe. On a marbled design that is the point rather than a defect.

Size Guide

Stand on a sheet of paper and measure heel to longest toe, then match the length below rather than ordering your usual number. Foot length is rounded to the nearest quarter inch, so five pairs of neighboring sizes read the same. If you fall between two, take the larger.
