Product Type: Sweaters

The Sarah turns stripes into waves. Scalloped bands of pink, hot pink, orange and cream ripple across a baggy body, the sleeves puff wide and cinch into a cuff at the wrist, and the wide neck lets the whole thing slide off one shoulder whenever the mood calls for it.

  • Balloon sleeves that gather into a cuff, so you can push them to the elbow and they stay put.
  • Two ways to wear the neckline: centered like a relaxed crew, or eased down to bare one shoulder.
  • Warm stripe colors that blue denim flatters, since blue sits opposite orange on the color wheel.
  • Light acrylic blend of 42% acrylic, 30% polyester and 28% polyamide, warm for its weight and quick to dry.

Off the Shoulder Sweater, Your Call

An off the shoulder sweater usually locks you into a bare shoulder all day. This one does not, because the neckline is simply wide rather than cut low at the sides. Pull it straight and it sits like a slouchy crew for a morning meeting; ease one side down and the dropped shoulder seam slides with it. One sweater gives you both looks, which a true off-shoulder cut never can.

When a shoulder is out, a strap shows. A strapless bra or a bandeau keeps the line clean, and a thin cream cami strap reads as deliberate, since cream already runs through the stripes.

Making a Baggy Knit Look Shaped

Baggy sweaters erase the waist, so tuck just the center front into high-rise jeans and let the sides fall loose. The waves break at the waistband, the balloon sleeves keep the volume up top, and you get a waist back without losing the slouch. That is the shape in the third photo, and it works with a midi skirt too.

Pick one stripe color for the accessories and let it set the tone. A hot pink bag, like the clutch in the photos, turns it up; cream or tan sneakers calm it down.

Keeping the Surface Smooth

Acrylic and polyester fibers are strong, so when the surface fuzzes, the little balls cling instead of dropping off. They form wherever something rubs in the same spot every day, usually under a crossbody strap or along the inner arm. A fabric shaver clears them in a minute and the waves look new again. Switching the side you carry your bag on slows them down.

The Wave Stripe in Real Life

Does a wide neckline stretch out over time? It can if the sweater lives on a hanger, because the weight of the body pulls on the neck for weeks. Fold it in a drawer and the neckline keeps its shape between wears.

Which bottoms suit pink and orange stripes? Blue denim first, then white, cream and tan. Black works but makes the stripes louder. Pastel green or lilac bottoms compete with the warm palette, so save those for a solid top.

Is a balloon sleeve awkward under a jacket? Under a denim or leather jacket the gathered cuff simply pokes out at the wrist, which looks intentional. Under a fitted blazer the extra fabric crowds the elbow, so wear the sweater as the top layer on blazer days.
