Most decorated teapots are barred from a microwave. This one is not, and the maker states it plainly, which comes down to what the green pattern is made of rather than how it looks.

  • Microwave rated by the maker Stated safe alongside the dishwasher, which decoration usually rules out.
  • Low and wide Eight inches nose to handle but only 5.3 tall, so it slides under a shelf.
  • 28 ounces poured Three and a half standard cups from one brew, without a top-up.

Why Decoration Usually Bars a Microwave

Metallic decoration is the reason a gold-banded teapot must never go in one: metal reflects microwaves, arcs, and can scorch the glaze around it. A pattern made purely from ceramic pigment has nothing in it to arc. That is the difference between a decorated pot you can reheat in and one you cannot, and it is worth checking on any patterned piece rather than assuming from the price.

The Shape of Eight Inches

Measured across everything, spout to handle, this pot is 8 inches long and 5.1 wide, and it stands 5.3 inches tall. Those proportions describe a low pot rather than a tall one, and low is easier to live with: it fits under a standard cabinet shelf, it does not tip when a full pot is set down hard, and the center of gravity stays low while you pour. Empty it weighs about a pound and a half.

Where the Green Runs

The geometric pattern wraps the body rather than sitting as a panel on one face, so the pot reads the same from whichever side it happens to be turned. On a piece that gets rotated every time somebody pours, that matters more than it sounds. A single-panel design has a right way round and a wrong one; this does not.

Serving, Reheating and Pattern

How many cups does 28 ounces pour? Between three and four, depending on whether you count a teacup at six ounces or a mug at eight. It is a pot for two people having seconds rather than four people having one each.

Is reheating tea in the pot a good idea? The pot allows it and the tea rarely improves for it. Brewed leaves keep releasing tannin while they sit, so reheating an old pot concentrates bitterness that a fresh brew would not have.

Will the pattern wear off in a dishwasher? Pigment fired into the glaze sits under the surface a detergent reaches. What fades in a machine is decoration sitting on top of the glaze, which you can usually feel as a slight ridge under a fingertip.
