Product Type: Heels

Most nude shoes come in one pale beige, and that leaves a lot of people without a match. Duet-S by Delicious is a slingback in a deeper nude, a shade the label lists as beige dark nude, with a peep toe, a gold chain on the ankle strap and a 3.5 inch stiletto heel.

  • A deeper nude. Warmer and darker than the usual pale beige, close to medium and tan skin tones.
  • Half an inch lower. At 3.5 inches the slope is gentler than the 4 inch standard for evening stilettos.
  • Gold at the ankle. A gold chain rides on the ankle strap, so the jewelry is already done.
  • Open back, open toe. The shoe is light at both ends and shows more foot than upper.

Nude Heels in a Deeper Shade

Nude heels only lengthen the leg when the shade is near your own, which is the argument for this darker one. It is a warm neutral with caramel in it. On medium, olive and tan skin it blends the way a pale nude does on fair skin, and the peep toe and open back extend the effect. Hold the shoe against the top of your foot in daylight to judge the match; indoor bulbs push every beige toward yellow. On fair or deep skin it reads as a soft tan shoe, which is a neutral in its own right.

What 3.5 Inches Changes

Half an inch sounds minor. On a stiletto without a platform it lowers the angle of your whole foot, takes weight off the forefoot and buys you time on your feet: think a full wedding, ceremony through last dance, and not only the dinner. It is also a height at which an open back behaves, since a lower slope pushes the foot forward less and the strap stays where you set it. If the strap slides down, it is sitting too low: move it to the narrow point above your heel bone.

Styling the Gold Chain Strap

The chain sits at the ankle, so treat it as jewelry. Wear hems that stop above it: cropped dress pants, midi skirts, knee length dresses. Gold earrings or a bracelet tie in, and mixed metals look accidental this close to a chain. Put on perfume, lotion and self tanner first and let them dry before the shoes go on, because those are what dull gold tone trim over time.

Duet-S Sizes and Slingback Fit

Delicious lists Duet-S as true to size. It is made in US women's 5.5 to 11 with half sizes up to 8.5, so a 9.5 orders the 10 and a 10.5 orders the 11. Man-made uppers do not stretch with wear, so the fit on day one is the fit you keep. In an open back shoe, length is the measurement that matters: strapped in and standing, your heel should rest fully on the footbed with its back edge in line with yours, and your toes should stay inside the front of the sole. A heel that hangs off the back means the next size up, and a gap behind it means the strap has nothing to hold.

Weddings, Work and Gold Trim

Are slingback heels comfortable for a wedding? A slingback at 3.5 inches is among the more forgiving formal choices, because the open back removes the stiff heel counter behind most blisters. Add a gel strip inside the strap if your skin is sensitive there, and scuff the soles on pavement before the day so they grip a polished floor.

Can you wear nude heels to the office? Yes, wherever open toes are accepted. The chain reads as jewelry, not hardware, so it sits easily under cropped pants. Keep everything else tailored and the shoe becomes the one soft detail in the outfit.

What is the difference between a slingback and an ankle strap? A slingback strap runs behind the heel and holds the shoe on from the back. An ankle strap circles the leg above the ankle bone and keeps the foot from lifting out. This pair is open at the back and closes at the ankle, with the chain riding on that strap.
