Product Type: Heels

The T-strap is the oldest trick for keeping a pointed pump on your foot, and this one adds a chain you can take off. Mesa-S, by Delicious, is a pale nude patent heel with a pointed toe, a T-strap that meets a buckled ankle strap, a removable silver chain and a 4 inch stiletto.

  • One strap, two jobs. The bar of the T stops your foot slipping down into the point, and the ankle strap holds the heel in place.
  • Chain on, chain off. The silver chain unhooks for the office and clips back on for the evening.
  • Patent wipes clean. The glossy man-made finish cleans up with one pass of a damp cloth.
  • A pale nude. Delicious lists the color as beige nude camel patent: light, warm and glossy.

Nude Heels With a T-Strap

Nude heels are bought to make legs look longer, and a strap across the ankle usually works against that. Here it does not, because the straps are the same pale patent as the shoe and read as skin from a few feet away, while the T runs down the foot and points the eye at the toe. You get the hold of a strapped shoe without the visual stop of a dark band. The match is closest on fair to light skin. On deeper skin the same shoe reads as a pale, glossy neutral, closer to a cream pump, and it contrasts instead of disappearing.

Wearing the Silver Chain or Not

Delicious lists the chain as removable, which gives you two shoes. It hangs in two strands between the T-strap and the back of the shoe and closes with a lobster clasp. With the chain, the pair is evening wear: it catches light as you walk and wants a bare ankle, a hem above it and silver or white metal jewelry. Without it, you have a quiet nude T-strap that passes in an office with dress pants or a pencil skirt. Take the chain off before you pack the shoes, so the links cannot rub the patent on the way, and keep it in a small pouch so it does not tangle.

Mesa-S Size and Pointed Toe

Delicious lists Mesa-S as true to size. It is made in US women's 5.5 to 11 with half sizes up to 8.5, so a 9.5 orders the 10 and a 10.5 orders the 11. Man-made uppers do not stretch with wear, so the fit on day one is the fit you keep. Patent gives even less than a matte finish, so judge the toe box honestly: standing, your toes should lie flat behind the taper with nothing pressing on the big toe joint. If you sit between two sizes or are wide across the forefoot, the larger one is the safer order, and the T-strap keeps a slightly roomier shoe from slipping. The ankle strap buckles on a row of holes, so the hold at the ankle is adjustable. Four inches on a stiletto, with no platform listed, makes this a heel for ceremonies, dinners and events with seats.

Patent Care, Skin Tones and Seasons

What takes scuffs off patent heels? Most marks on patent are transfers from other surfaces, not scratches. Rub them with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water, then buff dry. Store each shoe in its own bag, because two patent surfaces pressed together in a warm closet can stick and trade color.

Are nude heels supposed to match your skin tone? For the leg lengthening effect, yes: the closer the match, the less the eye notices where leg ends and shoe begins. The second use needs no match at all. Next to a bright or patterned dress, a nude shoe is simply the least distracting option, and any shade does that job.

When are nude heels in season? They are looked for all year, with the high point in April and May, when proms, graduations and weddings stack up, and the low point in midwinter. A pale patent pair photographs well against spring colors and white, which is part of why it turns up at so many ceremonies.
