Product Type: Lip Care

One tube, two completely different surfaces. Cheek skin carries oil glands and lip skin carries none, so the same jelly sinks and spreads on a cheek while it sits and stays put on a lip. Using identical technique in both places is why a dual tint so often works in one spot and not the other.

  • Two skins, one tube. The formula is the same and the surfaces are not.
  • Lips keep it put. Whatever you place stays there, so build outward from the center.
  • Blend on cheeks fast. Oilier skin grabs pigment within seconds of contact.
  • One coral shade. Buildable, so the strength is set by how many passes you make.

Two Skins, One Formula

Lips have no sebaceous glands at all, which is why they dry out faster than anything else on a face and why a tint sits on top of them instead of sinking in. A cheek behaves the opposite way. The tube has not changed between the two, only the ground it landed on, and knowing that is most of the technique.

Dab on Lips, Blend on Cheeks

On lips, press it into the center and let it spread outward with the movement of your mouth. On cheeks, get it moving immediately, because a jelly that has begun to set on oily skin leaves an edge that no amount of buffing removes. Work on one cheek at a time rather than dotting both and coming back.

Build It in Passes

A single pass reads as a flush that most people would not identify as makeup. Three passes gives a defined coral. The step nobody takes is stopping to look between passes, and it is the only way to land somewhere in the middle rather than at one end or the other.

Where One Shade Limits You

Coral flatters a lot of complexions and it does not flatter everyone, and a single shade product gives you nowhere to go if it is not yours. It is also a sheer formula, so anyone wanting full opaque color on the lip will find it too light however many passes are added. And a tint that stains is harder to correct than a lipstick that wipes.

Questions About the Coral Tint

Is it the same on lips and cheeks? The formula is. How it behaves is not, because cheek skin is oilier and takes the pigment faster.

How much for a natural flush? One pass, then look before adding another. Most people stop at two.

Does it dry the lips? It is a jelly rather than a matte stain, so it sits more comfortably than a liquid lip would.

Can it go over foundation? Yes, though it grabs faster on a powdered surface. Blend it the moment it touches.
